UBEC in its bid to develop and integrate modern learning approaches into basic education delivery is organizing a 2-day workshop for the review of proposals on the development of e-learning software for use in UBE schools. The workshop coming on the heels of renewed clamor for the transition from traditional to modern methods of teaching and learning, is part of the government’s efforts at ensuring that the education system keeps abreast of global best practices and learners given ample opportunity to harness their full potentials through the deployment of appropriate technology in UBE delivery.
The workshop which commenced on Monday, January 21st, 2019 at the UBEC Headquarters, Abuja is part of the foundational activities that will culminate in the adoption and utilization of essential ICT platforms for enhancing teaching and learning in government operated basic education institutions.  The 2-day workshop is attended by publishers, basic education resource content developers, collaborating agencies like NERDC, resource persons and UBEC officials.
The meeting which was declared open by UBEC Executive Secretary, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, represented by UBEC Director, Academic Services, Mallam Wadatau Madawaki among other things is expected to develop a blueprint that can guide UBEC in its bid to appraise submissions received from publishers and content developers that are keen on partnering with UBEC in the introduction of e-books in Nigeria’s basic education sub-sector. The e-book project when actualized will form part of UBEC’s instructional material delivery initiatives and is expected to be an added value to the improvement of basic education quality across the country.
