…sends letter to the House

The Kwara state government has increased its 2021 Budget proposal earlier forwarded to the House of Assembly in December by N11 billion from N123,091,307,468.00 to N134,961,924,650.00.
A letter sent to the House by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in Ilorin reflected change in the Appropriation Bill which was read at the plenary on Monday by the Speaker, Rt Hon Yakubu Salihu-Danladi.
Governor AbdulRazaq in his letter said the budget proposal increase was necessitated by new developments that cropped up after its presentation to the Assembly in December, 2020.
The Reviewed Budget proposal according to the governor had a total of #134,961,924,650 with the Capital and the Recurrent standing at #64,524,459,855 and #70,437,464,795 respectively
He had said in the letter that: “Recall that on the Tuesday 15th December, 2020 a budget proposal of 123,091,307,468 was presented to the Honourable House.
“However, due to new developments after the presentation, the budget proposal need to be reviewed upward and the Assembly has to be notified of these in compliance with rules guiding fiscal disciplines in governance.
“The Reviewed Budget proposal is at #134,961,924,650 as the Total budget size, while the Capital and the Recurrent is at #64,524,459,855 and #70,437,464,795 respectively”.
The Speaker however referred the reviewed Budget Estimate to the Committee on Finance and Appropriation for further legislations.
