The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State on Tuesday held its State Congress marking the concluding part of the expected three tiers of the exercise.
The outcome favoured the prayer of both Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the State APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi when the latter got the nod for a second term.
The peaceful congress cum election held at Arca Centre Events Place affirmed Prince Fagbemi; the Chairman and his entire State Working Committee returned un-opposed.
The event drew delegates and party stakeholders from all 16 the local government areas of the state where Chairman of the Congress Committee, Mr. Alkali Alibe, formally announced and affirmed the elected state officials now retasked with steering the party’s affairs for theanother four years.
Speaking at the congress, Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq urged party members to uphold discipline, emphasizing that unity is key to sustaining APC’s dominance in Kwara State.
His words; “Our focus must remain on unity and service to the people. With discipline and collective efforts, the APC in Kwara can achieve stability and development”. He warned that personal ambitions should never override the party’s or state’s general interests.
The Governor added; “We must continue to work together as one family. Disunity could erode the progress we have made.”
In his acceptance speech, newly elected state APC chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, praised members for their loyalty and resilience, stressing that teamwork and inclusiveness would ever remain the party’s strength.
“All of us must work together for the success of our party,” Fagbemi said, assuring supporters that the leadership under him would strengthen party structures ahead of future political engagements.
