A former lawmaker and businessman, Senator Buruji Kashamu, is dead, The State Online has gathered. Kashamu, who represented Ogun-East Senatorial District between 2015 and 2019, died at the First Cardiology Consultants, Lagos, confirmed his bossom friend and former colleague at the upper legislative chamber, Sen. Ben Murray Bruce, on his verified Tweeter account (@benmurraybruce August 8, 2020.
The former Ogun State governorship candidate on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was said to have died from Coronavirus complications after he was admitted in the highbrow Lagos hospital for over a week.
The State Online reports that First Cardiology Consultants, Lagos, was the same hospital where high profile Nigerians like the former Governor of Oyo State, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, late Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, and law maker representing Lagos-East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Sen. Adebayo Osinowo, had died of the same Covid-19 complications, although Kashamu was said to have had other underlying ailments, such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
Confirming his death in his verified Twitter account, Sen. Bruce said, “I have just lost my good friend of many years to COVID-19. Until his death, Sen. Buruji Kashamu and I were inseperable. He died today at First Cardiology Consultants, in Lagos. May his gentle soul rest in peace. I pray his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear this heavy loss.” Meanwhile, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has mourned the passing of Senator Kashamu, describing it as, not just a great loss to the people of Ogun East Senatorial District, but the entire Ogun State in general. He prayed for the Almighty God to give the people of Ogun state, his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
