Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Bello, has been declared winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
He ran on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and defeated his major challenger, Umar Nasko of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with a wide margin.
The returning officer and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, Angela Freeman, announced that Bello polled 526,412 votes to defeat Nasko who had 298,065 votes.
“Bello having satisfied and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared returned elected,” she said.
This is the second time Bello is defeating Nasko. In 2015, he polled garnered 593,702 votes against Nasco’s 239,772 votes.
