The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, has ordered the immediate reactivation of 20 additional National Identification Number (NIN) enrollment centers in the Federal Capital Territory that were hitherto not operational, for ease of enrollment as its order on NIN-SIM synchronization date draws closer. The Federal Government also ordered the immediate closure of the headquarters of National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Abuja.

Pantami who gave the directive, said it was in the need to control the overwhelming crowd that throng the NIMC headquarters on Sokode Crescent area of Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, to register for the National Identification Number (NIN).

Revealing this in a statement, yesterday, the commission’s Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, said the move was in pursuant to making the NIN enrollment “much easier,” especially as the January 19th deadline given for NIN-SIM synchronization date fast approaches.
