The General overseer of Winds of Liberation Prophetic Church, Enugu pastor Samuel Emenike, has been dragged to court over his attempt to force one Gift Chinenye Onyema to procure an abortion and threatened her life, contrary to section 214 of the criminal code Cap 30 Vol.11 Revised Laws of Enugu State of Nigeria 2004.
In suit No.403 c/2020 between Commissioner of Police Vs Pastor Samuel O. Emenike, in the Magistrate Court Enugu North Magisterial District, Emenike is accused of impregnating Gift Chinenye Onyema, 21, threatened to kill her and wipe away her family if she failed to terminate the pregnancy.
The hearing is scheduled to hold on October 16, 2020 before Magistrate Court 4 presided over by Edith Agbo.
The two count charge read… “That you pastor Samuel O. Emenike “m”, on or /about the month of April 2020 at noon at Ndiku Street, Independence Layout Enugu in Enugu North Magisterial District did with the intent to procure miscarriage of one Miss Onyema Gift Chinenye “f” who is with pregnancy, gave her the sum of N10,000 and force and threaten her that she must abort the pregnancy which you are responsible and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 214 of Criminal Code Cap 30 Vol.11 Revised Laws of Enugu State of Nigeria 2004”.
Count 11: “That you pastor Samuel O. Emenike “m”, on the same period, time and place at the aforementioned Magisterial District did with intent to intimidate, annoy one Miss Onyema Gift Chinenye “f” threaten to kill her and wipe away her family if she tells anyone that you are responsible for the pregnancy she is carrying, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 120(a) of Criminal Code Cap 30 Vol.11 Revised Laws of Enugu State of Nigeria 2004”.
Barrister Callista Ozor, counsel to Onyema said she was optimistic of a favourable judgment. Pastor Emenike will be represented by C.U. Abugu and E.N.Igboji.
