A Bill for an Act to establish North Central Development Commission, NCDC passed through first reading in the Senate yesterday.
The Bill was sponsored by Senator Musa, Mohammed Sani representing Niger east.
This new bill brings to three the number of bills on establishment of development commissions before the Senate. Only last week, South west development commission bill, sponsored by Senator Ibikunle Amosun also passed first reading.
Already South south has Niger Delta Development Commission while the North east has the North East Development Commission.
South East Development Commission Bill was passed by the 8th Senate, but didn’t see the light of day as President Muhammadu Buhari did not assent to it. It was sponsored by Senator Stella Odua, Anambra North.
With the NCDC bill yesterday, only the North west has no development commission or a bill to that effect before the National Assembly.
