No Mercy For Pipeline Vandals – Governor Sanwo-Olu vows

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has vowed to deal with vandals who caused the pipeline explosion in Abule Egba area of the state yesterday.
The explosion reportedly caused by vandals, was said to have left no fewer than two people dead as many houses were razed.
The governor who visited the site today said through his Twitter handle: “My thoughts and prayers are with the families and businesses affected in the unfortunate incident at Abule Egba.”
The governor thanked LASEMA officials for their bravery and the Lagos fire service for responding swiftly and also working all night to reduce the impact of the incident.
Sanwo-Olu vowed that vandals will not be shown any mercy. The governor further urged the people of the country to work together to ensure such man-made incidents like the one that happened in Abule Egba are avoided.
“Security and information gathering along volatile corridors will increase and a stronger synergy with communities must happen. We all have a role to play,” Sanwo-Olu added.
On his part, Abubakar Atiku, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election, prayed for the families of those who lost their people and properties. He said his thoughts and prayers are with them.
The explosion, witnesses had said, may likely be from a vandalised petroleum pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), situated in the area.
According to Ibrahim Farinloye, the acting coordinator of Lagos territorial office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), two dead bodies were already recovered, and several articulated vehicles destroyed as the fire raged on.
