The Kwara State Government has debunked news making the rounds that it has approved N30,000 minimum wage for its workers.
The governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had repeatedly said the resources at his government’s disposal could not meet the wage bill demands which he said was too huge for the statutory federal monthly allocations.
He had said implementing the N30,000 minimum pay would mean doing do at the expense of services and developments government must discharge to the larger populace.
The news of government bowing to the workers’ pressure to pay the wage went viral at the weekend especially in some social media walls which Kwara Government denied on Monday.
Government on Monday had said: “There is no truth to the report in a national daily that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has signed the minimum wage agreement for the state. The report is false and should be disregarded.
“Government and labour teams are working round the clock to iron out an agreement that is realistic and progressive for the state.”
