In what appears as reward for job well done, President Muhammadu Buhari has, today, February 4, nominated the recently sacked service chiefs as non-career ambassadors-designate, barely two weeks after relieving them of their duties following public outcry on worsening state of insecurity in the country.
.
Revealing this in a statement this afternoon, the president’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said President Buhari had forwarded the names of the ex-Service Chiefs to the Senate for confirmation.
The sacked service chiefs include: retired Gen. Abayomi G. Olonisakin , retired Lt.-Gen. Tukur Y. Buratai, retired Vice-Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, retired Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, and retired Air Vice Marshal Mohammed S. Usman.
Buhari, in a letter to Senate President Ahmad Lawan, said the appointments were in accordance with Section 171 (1), (2) (c) and sub-section (4) of 1999 Constitution (as amended), urging the lawmakers to give the nominations expeditious consideration./SHARE THIS
