The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it has conducted supplementary examinations for 490 candidates who it discovered could not take their rescheduled examination.
JAMB disclosed this in the latest edition of its weekly bulleting made available to The State Online.
The Board said “ A total of 490 candidates in 17 sessions under this category have been identified and they have since taken another examination.”
JAMB stressed that some of these candidates were to sit the examination in centres that were sanctioned from conducting further examination on behalf of the Board, owing to lack of capacity by some of these centres while others were involved in examination infractions.
“In essence, affected candidates missed their sessions because, at a particular point in time, the Board deemed it expedient to suspend all examinations at centres earlier earmarked for candidates based on the reasons cited above. These candidates were unfortunately rescheduled to retake the examination at another date other than the original dates. As such, notification of the new dates and time were sent to the candidates through the Board’s four channels of communication which are: direct phone calls to candidates, text messages to their registered phone numbers , their e-mails as well as their profiles,” JAMB stated.
It added that the candidates however claimed not to have received any of these notifications for their rescheduled examinations, thereby missing the examinations entirely.
The Board said “ as a responsive organization,” it takes responsibility for the candidates missing their examination, hence the supplementary arrangement and disclosed that “ these candidates took their examinations in Bayelsa State JAMB office, Yenogoa, JAMB Professional Testing Centres (PTC) located at Kogo and JAMB National Headquarters, Bwari, respectively.”
The Board urged candidates with queries to make use of the free ticketing system .
