The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has participated in the Second International Symposium and Master Class Workshop of the Higher Education Forum for Africa, Asia and Latin America (HEFAALA) which was hosted by the Ethiopian Airlines Academy and African Union Commission, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
T he event, themed:”Internationalization of Higher Education in the New Era of World (Dis) order”, took place on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th July, 2019 with eminent scholars from Africa, Asia and Latin America.
The symposium, according to JAMBulletin, the weekly newsletter of JAMB provided a veritable platform for discussing policies, sharing of research, scholarly publications, networking and high level engagements.
The Registrar, JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, participated in the master class workshop where they discussed the benefits of internationalization of higher education, responsibilities of players and challenges.
He also chaired the discussion groups and the round-table on advancing research, innovation in higher education through international partnership.
JAMBulletin said “The forum was very enriching as it provided additional and pertinent modalities for the internationalization of higher education.”
The delegation from JAMB also had the opportunity to share ideas on the actualization of the internationalization of J A M B admissions which was to encourage the admission of more candidates from other countries into Nigerian universities.
The symposium, in addition to identifying challenges and opportunities also articulated relevant strategies for the internationalization of higher education such as research partnership and cooperation on academic mobility and linkages, university leadership, private content, Information Technology (IT) within the context of the educational strategy for Africa 2016 – 2025 and sustainable
development goals.
HEFAALA was established to advance dialogue, networking and partnership in higher education among the three continents based on shared traits, challenges and prospects in the light of emerging global economy and world order.
The Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, in company o f Director ,Psychometrics Department, Dr. Omokunmi Popoola and Director, Test Development Department, Dr. Haliru Bakori Mohammed were in attendance.
