Irregular Electricity: Olofa Gives Fed Poly 33Kva Gen, 500kva Transformer

The Olofa of Offa, Oba Muftau Gbadamosi, Esuwoye II, has donated a 33KVA Generator and another 500KVA transformer to the Federal Polytechnic, Offa to help alleviate electricity challenges in the institution.

The monarch made this known to members of the Governing Council led by its chairman, Dr. Usman Ahmed MFR, who paid him a visit in the palace.

According to the king, he had cause to do that at a time that students of the institution wanted to protest an alleged irregular power supply to their school which was brought to his knowledge and he had to promptly intervene by calling the students to his palace, pacify them and subsequently donated the multi-million-naira electrical items.

He commended the Council for not constituting a burden to the polytechnic by way of being self-centred with outrageous demands like others pointing out that instead, it is the Council that has been giving out towards the growth of the institution.

According to the monarch, he has been on the throne for 12 years, pointing out that all along, he ensured that he showed strong interests in the growth and progress of the institution.

He added that he regarded the Polytechnic as an enviable Federal Government presence in his domain, stressing that his subjects as well appreciate the government gesture a great deal.

Oba Gbadamosi rated the Governing Council as the best of the three appointed by government to oversee the affairs of the Polytechnic since he ascended the throne 12 years ago judging by its commitment and zeal towards the development of the school.

The Council was in Offa Poly to commission five capital projects completed under the watch of its Acting Rector, Dr. Rongbe Afolabi.

Earlier, the Acting Rector, Dr. Olarongbe Afolabi had praised the Oba for his fatherly roles in the affairs of the school which he said

had brought about, steady progress and development in the institution.

He disclosed that the Olofa has been playing a good fatherly role  for the institution most importantly, by supporting its progress and being handy in the areas of trade dispute resolutions and coming to give concrete assistance which often times are huge in kind.

According to him, in June this year, the Olofa came in at three different instances to play roles that helped in mediating on issues very pertinent to the smooth running of the Polytechnic community.

Also speaking, the Chairmn, Dr. Ahmed thanked the Olofa for being there always to see to the growth of the institution through his personal interventions in kind and mediating in times of disputes.

He expressed satisfaction with the Acting Rector, management, staff and students of the Polytechnic for making optimal use of the resources available, stressing that he and his Council members had toured the two campuses and were satisfied with what they saw.

The projects commissioned included the Polytechnic Bookshop, Main Store, Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) Laboratory, Food Technology Building, Business Administration Building and Extension of Mass Communication Studios.
