EPINMI CLASS OF ’78 RETURNS ‘HOME’ FOR A.G.M

Epinmi Class of ’78, the young minds who  graduated from African Church Teacher’s Training College at Epinmi, Akoko East LGA of Ondo State, in 1978, returned to their Alma Mata 44 years after, last Saturday for their 2022 Annual General Meting.

In a press release by Otunba Dapo Olaosebikan, National Public Relations officer of Epinmi Class of ’78, everyone in the group, now all Senior Citizens, was very ecstatic for the reunion at thier Alma Mata, though now a Unity Secondary in the historic town of Epinmi Akoko.

According to the release, Mr. Benjamin Olukayode Adewumi, JP, Chairman of Epinmi Class of ’78, welcomed all that attended the A.G.M, including the Principal of the now renamed institution, Mr. J.A. Oyeyemi and particularly thanked Dr. Michael Sunday Aiyerun, the LOC Chairman of the A.G.M, for his zeal and dedication. 

In his Welcome Address, Mr. Adewumi, Epinmi Class of ’78 came into being in 2019 with its first meeting in Akure and has waxed stronger since then, urging the members to always support the growth of the group.

In his interaction with the group, the principal of the school, now African Church Unity School, Epinmi Akoko, made a checklist of immediate needs of the institution, which Epinmi Class of ’78 promised to give prompt attention and eventual support.

Once again, the group charges the Federal Government to revisit the reestablishment of the abolished teacher’s training colleges nationwide. According to the veteran teachers, progressive and effective education of any nation begins at the primary level, noting that lack of well-trained teachers at the primary school level, has continued to be the greatest lacuna in our country’s educational system.
