Court Summons Adebayo Shittu Over Unpaid Salaries of Former Aide

The National Industrial Court, NIC, has summoned Adebayo Shittu, minister of communications, over allegation of unpaid salary by his former aide, Victor Oluwadamilare.
In a Suit No: NICN/ABJ/133/2019, dated May 20, 2019 and signed by Registrar of the arbitration court, Shittu was ordered to appear before within 14 days after service of the order to him and take notice that in default of his “so doing, Claimant/Applicant may proceed therein and judgment may be given” in his absence.
In the suit filed before the court, Oluwadamilare is demanding a sum of N50million as aggravated and general damages done to him and his entire family because of non-payment of his full salary as Special Adviser on Media to the Minister for 28 months, between 2015 and March 2018.
Specifically, he claims against his former boss before the Court as follows:
a. A declaration that the non-payment of his full salaries and allowances by Adebayo Shittu for 28 months is wrongful, illegal and unconstitutional.
b. An order directing the defendant (Barrister Shittu) to pay to the claimant (Victor Oluwadamilare) his unpaid salaries and allowances for 28 months, according to the Federal Government directive for payment to Special Assistants to Honourable Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
c. An order directing the defendant (Barrister Shittu) to pay the sum of N50million on the footing of aggravated and general damages, and
d. An order directing the defendant (the Minister) to pay to the claimant (Victor Oluwadamilare) his full taxed costs of the prosecution of the suit before the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Abuja Division.
