Suspected assailants have reportedly besieged home of former deputy speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Olusegun Adewumi.
The assailants it was gathered invaded the residence on Tuesday 2nd July around 2am midnight.
The miscreants allegedly forced their ways in and trooped into the compound .
An eyewitness said they didn’t cart away any property, but were particular about the whereabouts of the former deputy speaker .
The anonymous witness explained that when the hoodlums had left, he was called by people around the area A/21 Ogunna Quarters, Inisa Street Erinjiyan Ekiti. Ekiti West local government Area of the state.
“I was in Aramoko when I received a call from someone living close to Honourable ‘s house, that I should come at dawn to Erinjiyan.
“Not quite long, I received another calls from two different people, who were known to me. I immediately rushed down to Erinjiyan at day break, when I got there, I could see traces of the entry,but no property were carted away.
“They were said to be fully armed, asking about The Honourable. They were quoted to have said “the stupid guy is not in Ado and still nowhere to be in his hometown, Erijiyan”
When our correspondent inquired about the movement of the former deputy speaker, the anonymous witness who seemed reluctant to give the actual detail said, “his relocation couldn’t be unconnected with the development as the same incident had happened in his residence in Ado sometimes ago” ,while another source confirmed that Rt.Hon.Adewumi Olusegun is currently on Family Holiday in Canada with his wife and children.
Recalled that the former deputy speaker brutally lost his mother Mrs. Juliana Adewumi ,who was murdered in cold blood alongside one other politician Mr. Ayo Jeje aka Murphy,who was one of the political aides to Rt Honourable Adewumi, on March 30, 2013 in Erijiyan-Ekiti
It was the shock of this unfortunate incident according to the anonymous witness that led to the death of his father Pa Gabriel Ojo Adewumi ,a devout Christian Community Leader and Consummate Politician.
The witness said since the gruesome killing of the mother, the former deputy speaker’s home had again been attacked twice.
“This being the third time ”
When asked if the matter has been reported at the police station, he said “whatever steps taken would be communicated to the press in due course”.
The former deputy speaker, Rt Hon Olusegun Adewumi who spoke with our correspondent on phone called for safety of his lives and properties .
“That’s the information I heard , unfortunately am not around . I don’t know the offence I have committed, I pray God to save my soul”
When contacted the Police public relations officer, (PPRO) Ekiti State, Caleb Ikechukwu, the PPRO said he has not been briefed of the incident.
