Arsenal have reportedly contacted the father of highly-rated Flamengo midfielder Reinier Jesus about a future move.

Reinier made his first-team debut for Flamengo in July and signed a new contract earlier this month lasting until 2024, with a release clause set at £60million.

Manchester City, Real Madrid, Juventus and PSG are also interested in the 17-year-old, but Arsenal lead the way after making contact with his father, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

The Gunners are also hoping to point towards the emergence of Gabriel Martinelli in the first-team squad as proof that Reinier can progress at the Emirates.

Martinelli signed for Arsenal from Brazilian side Ituano in the summer and has already scored seven goals in all competitions.

Reinier captained the Brazil team in this year’s South American Under-17 Championship, scoring three goals.
