The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), today, December 8, 2020, dissolved all-tier Executive Councils of the party, implying that all EXCOs, from ward, state to national level, have been put in abeyance, till new ones emerge.

This decision which took place few hours ago at the ongoing NEC meeting of the party, at the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja, has in attendance, President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, state governors and members of the National Caretaker Committee, with members of the just-dissolved state executive committees also attending virtually from their various locations.

The decision might not be unconnected with the endless internal wrangling threatening to tear the very foundation of the party, The State Online has gathered. Although things had fallen apart right from the time of the chairmanship of the ex-Edo Gov. Adams Oshiomhole, leading to his sack, along with his National Working Committee, events grew for the worse after the installation of the National Caretaker Committee led by the Yobe Governor, Mai-Mala Buni, with political space agog with one story of in-fighting or the other, on daily basis.

Meanwhile the National Executive Committee of the party, also at the emergency meeting, extended the tenure of Governor Mai Buni-led caretaker committee by six months, while also expelling its South-South vice chairman, Ntufam Hilliard Eta, from the party. The expulsion of Eta did not go without drama as the South-South VC told President Buhari that a Presidential Villa NEC hasn’t got power to expel him.
