President Muhammadu Buhari’s APC home state of Katsina is presently in shock as no fewer than 5,000 members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have decamped to the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas of  the state ahead of the 2023 general eletions.

Their defection, according to reports, followed their leader, Ali Maikano’s swift movement to PDP sequel to alleged maltreatment meted out to them by the APC leadership during its recent primaries in the area.

Ali Maikano was said to have contested for Matazu/Musawa Federal Constituency under the APC platform but was not given the ticket, prompting him to make a swift move in what he described as undemocratic process and premeditated desire to sideline him.

Welcoming them in Matazu, the state PDP Chairman, Hon. Salisu Yusuf Majigiri, assured them of equity and justice in PDP, urging them to feel at home in their new found home of political comfort in the state.

“Today (Saturday), we receive over 5,000 APC members from Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas led by Ali Maikano and Isa Abba into our party, PDP. As new members, I assure you of all rights and privileges accruing to all our members, despite your newness,” he said, further stressing to ensure every opportunity relative to members’ welfare at all times./SHARE THIS
