The South-West secretary of the Presidential Support Committee (PSC) for Buhari/Osinbajo, Dele Olanusi has urged the Yoruba to vote massively for President Muhammadu Buhari and his vice, Professor Yemi Olanusi, in Saturday election to consolidate the “substantial gains’ of the South-West under the Buhari administration.
Olanusi, who is also a presidential aide, spoke amidst the frenzied horse-trading across board in the six geopolitical zones in the country by various political gladiators about 48 hours to end of campaigns. .
He said the Yoruba should use the election to consolidate their gains of belonging to mainstream politics under the present administration in the next four years.
The PSC secretary said the events of the last three years showed that the decision of the Yoruba to vote massively for the APC ticket in 2015 was not misplaced, going by practical efforts of the administration as restoring the glory of the South-West as the epicenter of economic growth and development in Nigeria.
He asserted that the administration needed another four years to further fast track the pace of general development across the country after laying the necessary foundation towards diversifying the economy through agriculture, investing in solid mineral and the real sector.
Olanusi, who also observed that the administration had empowered a lot of Nigerians through various schemes, lot the youth, said the “over 300 groups in the PSC was involved in vigorous and massive door-to-door campaign selling the message of integrity and sustainable development to place Nigeria first in Africa.”
The PSC secretary was of the opinion that there was no justification for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking to return to power, “given its abysmal performance in its 16 years of being in power.”
He added: “In all its campaigns, the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar promised to sell all Nigerian assets; enrich his relations and friends, as well as grant amnesty to looters. Therefore, Nigerians should have cause to worry; it shows that as far as PDP is concerned, nothing has changed; that the era of impunity must be restored. They are not remorseful for claiming to have spent a sum of $16 billion on power sector, which went down the drain. That is not what Nigerians deserve and clamour for. The apology given by PDP national chairman, Chief Uche Secondus for the poor performance of the party was in power begs the issue; it lacks sincerity. Nigerians do not want a repeat of that period of impunity.
“So, I urge to Nigerians and indeed, the Yoruba in particular, to troop out and return Buhari, Osinbajo and all APC candidates to power, so that Nigeria can move to the next level of growth, development and accountability,” Olanusi stated.
