Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, said time has come for Labour Party to frustrate sick and unfit candidates who want to turn the Presidency into a retirement home.
Referring to APC’s candidate of Bola Tinubu and PDP’s candidate of Atiku Abubakar, Obi, who spoke at the Labour Party rally in Osogbo, Osun State, Saturday, said Nigeria, inevitably, requires sound physical and mental health to be able to steer the capsizing ship of the country, already in comatose, courtesy of the two parties’ maladministration over the years – not grand standing in continued desire to plunder it the more – by selfish interests who only believe it’s their turn and nothing more.

Based on this, Obi said both the APC and PDP candidates, Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar may not have the requirements to perform in office, urging Nigerians to join him and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed in taking over power from the APC and PDP for good.
The former Anambra State Governor stressed that he and his running mate remain physically and mentally fit with capability to withstand the rigours and demands of the office if elected, adding: “with the help of Nigerians some sick and unfit persons who want to turn the Presidency into a retirement home would be disappointed this time around.”
Going further, he said though the Labour Party has been pooh-poohed as a party without structure, the structures the foregoing parties claim to have had only resulted in massive joblessness for the youth, killings, insecurity, intermittent strikes by University lecturers, among numerous other ills, hence it is time to chase them away.
He said: “Nigerians are hungry, youths have no job, it is not safe to travel anywhere in Nigeria today; all these challenges are caused by those who say they have party structures, but these structures have crippled Nigeria. I want me and you to destroy these structures by voting them out next month.
“We are going to secure and unite Nigeria, we want Nigerians to be proud of being Nigerians. We will deliver a secure Nigeria. We don’t want Nigerians to be in IDP camps any more; we don’t want you to be a slave in your own country. Not any more
“We are going to govern this country with fear of God. We will give you jobs; we will change Nigeria from consuming country to a producing one.
“These people kept on bragging that they have structures, yet, they are not doing anything. They are not producing anything in this state, youths are unemployed; we will change these narratives.”
No more embezzlement
Obi said the parties that claim to have structures have plunged Nigeria into many troubles of embezzlement and the citizens have to vote them out in the February election, urging them to go ahead and collect the money from those who may want to rely on vote buying to rig the election, and still vote against them.He urged Nigerians not to sell their future.
He added that he and Datti Baba-Ahmed have never stolen public funds and won’t steal if voted into power because they have thriving businesses of their own already.
“Those that have structures have stolen our money; their time is up; we will fight corruption in the real sense of it; myself and my Vice have our own thriving businesses that we make money from before we come into the government; we have never stolen any money from anyone till date.
He said: “They are going to give you money on Election Day, collect the money and still vote them out. We will end the plan to turn Nigerians to beggars because we will make the county work this time. My self and Datti are young and very fit. We can run around for hours to ensure that Nigeria works again…and that we will do./SHARE THIS
