We will turn Ogun to tourists’ destination, Dapo Abiodun promises


Ogun state Governor -elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun has promised that his Administration would turn Ogun state to tourists’ destination.

He stated this at the Cultural Evening held Saturday evening at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta as part of the activities for his inauguration as the governor of the state.

The Governor-elect who expressed delight over the assemblage of Arts professional, led by iconic personalities such as Jimi Solanke, Ogungbe, Ogogo and many others, promised to establish a Theatre Village that would be for the enssemble of arts, where arts would be taught and performed.

The Ogun state Governor-elect stated that he was aware of the enormous gifts of the state in the field of Arts from the nooks and crannies of the land, promising that his administration would tap, develop and promote them and turn them to revenue generation sector.

Abiodun who said that Eyo Masquerade who has today assumed an international standard originated from Iperu in Ogun state, saying that the state would celebrate it and many other rich cultural heritages of the state.

Speaking at the occasion, former Governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba who expressed satisfaction with the brilliant performances of the evening stated that it was exigent to honour people who make valuable contributions to development of the state.

Chief Osoba who could not hold back his bountiful joy and at a point had to join the dancers on the stage suggested that the composer of the state Anthem, “Ise ya” late Dayo Dedeke should be accorded a pride of place in the state.

The Cultural Evening graced by Royal fathers led by His Royal Majesty, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, Alake of Egba and current Chairman, Ogun state Council of Obama; past Governors, literary icons and those enthuised with Arts was filled with fun and thrills with a play titled “Ola To Dara ( Better Tomorrow) presented by the Ogun state Cultural Troupe; dances such as: Ajagbodo, Balufon, Ogodo, Nata, Yengben. Jimmy Solanke sent the atmosphere electric with his great performance, so much that the Governor -elect himself had to mount the stage and dance.
