The Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman H. Adamu, will on Thursday, 28th May, 2020 in Abuja officially unveil to the general public the year 2020 Annual Flood Outlook (AFO) and new Flood Mobile APP.
A statement by the ministry’s Director of Press, Mrs. Kenechukwu Offie, on Wednesday, said the Annual Flood Outlook (AFO) is a publication of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), a parastatal of the ministry, and will present probable flood scenarios for this year as well as disseminate information to all nooks and crannies of the country, particularly the flood prone areas, in order to reduce the resultant effects of the flood risks.
The new Flood Mobile App, she said, is designed to be of practical value to the Water Managers, Technical Experts, Disaster Risk Managers, Policy Makers and Flood Forecasting Community for flood prevention and enhancement of flood early warning systems in the country.
