Before his new appointment, Wabara was the Secretary of the BoT.

Senator Walid Jibrin who announced his resignation at the PDP BoT meeting in Abuja today said that his decision to step down was to ensure victory for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the PDP in general.

The PDP has been embroiled in crisis since its presidential primary election was won by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. His major challenger, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has insisted that he would not support the party’s presidential flag bearer and even threatened to pull down the party.

He has continued to demand that Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s chairman, should resign without which he would not support Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 general elections.

Jibrin’s resignation was part of the strategy to balance the existing lopsidedness in favour of the north.
