The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Chief Victor Umeh of the Labour Party (LP) as the winner of the Anambra Central Senatorial Seat.

INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Chuka Enuka, announced the result on Tuesday in Awka.

Enuka said that Umeh scored 103,608 votes to beat his closet rival, Mr. Dozie Nwankwo, of APGA who scored 69,702, while Sen. Uche Ekwunife of PDP and incumbent senator scored 49,532 to place third.

 “With the powers vested on me as the Returning Officer, the candidate of the Labour Party, having polled the highest number of vote cast and having fulfilled all requirements, is therefore declared elected and returned,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), as the winner of the Anambra South Senatorial seat.

INEC Resident Returning Officer, Prof. Ebele Nwokoye, announced theresult in Nnewi.

Nwokoye said that Ubah polled 73, 115 votes to emerge winner, while Mr. Chris Azubogu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) placed second with 45, 369 votes.         The candidates of Labour Party (LP), Obinna Uzor and Chris Una of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 28, 102 and 21, 209, respectively to clinch third and fourth positions, respectively.
