
The Sokoto State Government has re-affirmed its commitment to ensuring early purchase of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examiation(UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) forms for distribution to qualified indigenes.
The state commissioner for higher education, Professor Bashir Garba gave the assurance while receiving officials of JAMB Sokoto State Office led by its Coordinator, Malam Malami Salihu, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
The news was contained in the latest edition of JAMBulletin, a weekly publication of the office of JAMB Registrar, made available to The State Online by Dr Fabian Benjamin, Chairman of the Bulletin’s editorial board and JAMB’s Head of Media.
The publication added that Prof Garba disclosed that a joint training workshop would also be organised to enlighten candidates in the state on the rudiments of Computer-Based Test (CBT) and the need for the acquisition of the National Identification Number (NIM) for the 2020 UTME Registration.
The Commissioner assured the visiting officials that effective measures would be put in place to ensure the full participation of candidates in the forthcoming JAMB Examination.
He further said that the doors of his office would remain open to the Board for advice and suggestions on how best to further improve the fortunes of the tertiary education sector in the state.
Earlier, the State Coordinator, Malam MALAMI Salihu , had commended the state government for the annual purchase of UTME and DE forms and solicited the cooperation of the state’s Ministry of Higher Education towards addressing some challenges being face by candidates during the examination processes.
