The US and Taliban have signed a peace deal leading to withdrawal of US and NATO troops in Afghanistan within 14 months. The two sides met in Doha to sign the accord, in a historic move aimed at ending 18 years of conflict in the country. The deal lays out a timetable for a full US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan as it seeks an exit from its longest-ever war. However,  US Defence Secretary Mark Esper said the nation  ‘will not hesitate to nullify’ its agreement with the Taliban if the insurgents renege on their security guarantees and commitment to hold talks with the Afghan government.
