An aide Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm that his boss was being blackmailed with a photograph he took with Ms Marylin Ogah, spokeswoman of the Department of State Services (DSS) during the administration of the immediate past president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan.

Tunde Rahman, media aide to Tinubu said his boss took the picture with Ogah and some other stalwarts of the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday at the private wing of Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos at the request of Ogah and the others.

He however lamented that Ms Ogah and her colleagues have turned the photograph to an instrument of blackmail, threatening to use it as advertorial in the dailies.

Nigeria’s general elections are due to kick off on Saturday and PDP which was in power for 16 years until 2015 when it was defeated by APC is making strenuous efforts to come back to office.

In the photograph, Tinubu was standing beside a woman wearing PDP campaign outfit made of Ankara fabric with the pictures of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the PDP and his running mate, Mr Peter Obi embossed on the dress.

It could not be ascertained if Ogah was similarly dressed as she was standing behind Tinubu.

Also in the photograph is another woman, making three women in all.

There were two other other men apart from Tinubu, with one of them partially cut off by camera..

Full text of Rahman’s alarm posted on his social media page run thus: “Yesterday on our way to Abuja, APC Leader, Asiwaju Tinubu, bumped into some PDP stalwarts at the Private Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.

“These people who included ex-DSS Spokesperson Marilyn Ogah quickly warmed up to him and sought for a selfie with Asiwaju. Because he knows Ogah well and because of his mature politics, he allowed what he thought was a seemingly innocuous request.

“Now, Marilyn Ogah and PDP elements have turned this noble gesture exemplified by the photograph below into a propaganda machinery and an instrument of blackmail. I understand, they even want to place this photograph as an advertorial in newspapers in their desperate attempt to smear Asiwaju and curry support.

“The photograph has been turned into an instrument of blackmail. This is sad indeed. With the way she is using this photograph, Marilyn Ogah has sunken low. Many who were there saw how they forcefully pleaded for the selfie and Asiwaju obliged them even without his trademark cap.

“Please ignore their propaganda and campaign of calumny. There is nothing more to the photograph than an acceptance of a seemingly harmless request for a photograph.”
