The Chairman of the Gwer West Traditional Council in Benue State, Daniel Abomtse, has raised concerns over the influx of armed herders into his area following recent U.S. airstrikes in northern Nigeria.
He said the armed groups were fleeing from Sokoto into Gwer West and Agatu LGAs with sophisticated weapons.
While praising the U.S. action, Abomtse urged that similar operations be extended to other affected states, describing the strikes as a major blow to a security crisis that has lasted over 16 years.
