Soludo’s jubilation continues as INEC confirms him winner of Anambra guber poll

The All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate in the just concluded Anambra guber poll, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, this morning, continued his jubilation which started since Saturday night, November 6, when he was in unassailable lead in 18 out of the 21 LGAs of the state. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), this morning, November 10, officially pronounced him the undisputable winner of the election.

Announcing his victory this morning, INEC Chief Returning Officer for the poll, Professor Florence Obi, said: “That Charles Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”

Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, secured 112,229 votes, twice more than his closest rival – PDP’s Valentine Ozigbo who polled 53,807 votes, while other frontline contenders, Senator Andy Uba of All Progressives Congresss (APC) and Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of Young Progressives Party (YPP) scored 43,285 and 21,261 votes, respectively.

Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party – Mr. Valentine Ozigbo and Young Progressives Party, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, won one local government each in the keenly contested election, while the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Andy Uba, was unable to win a single local government in the election./SHARE THIS
