The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has presented a Certificate of Return to Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the winner of Anambra State governorship election.
Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Allianc (APGA), was declared winner of the November 6 election by INEC.
He was accompanied by Anambra State Commissioner for Public Utilities and Water Resources, Hon. Engr. Emeka Ezenwanne and Igwe Moghalu (Igwe Isuofia) and other APGA dignitaries.
The ceremony, which is still ongoing, is taking place at the INEC Headquarters, Awka.
Announcing his victory November `10, INEC Chief Returning Officer for the poll, Professor Florence Obi, said: “That Charles Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”
Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, secured 112,229 votes, twice more than his closest rival – PDP’s Valentine Ozigbo who polled 53,807 votes, while other frontline contenders, Senator Andy Uba of All Progressives Congresss (APC) and Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of Young Progressives Party (YPP) scored 43,285 and 21,261 votes, respectively.
Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party – Mr. Valentine Ozigbo and Young Progressives Party, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, won one local government each in the keenly contested election, while the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Andy Uba, was unable to win a single local government in the election./SHARE THIS
