The troubled road remained the only motorable route that linked Maiduguri, the state capital with the rest of the country, which has remained a death trap, especially from Beneshiekh enroute Mainok, Jakana and Auno communities before reaching Maidiguri.

Sources said the latest ambush took place on Saturday evening, but remains of victims were conveyed to Maiduguri on Sunday morning.

It was also gathered that the attackers suffered same casualties, as many of the terrorists were eliminated during the encounter.

According to one hunter who did not want his name mentioned told our Correspondent that they lost one of their member during the ambush

“Yesterday Boko Haram Ambushed our Gallants Nigerian Army and Borno Local Hunters (Vigilantes) along Maiduguri- Beneshiekh federal highway.

“We lost one of our active member named (MONYE ) due to lack of Protector, such as life Jackets and other Safety equipment to Vigilantes”.

All effort to confirm from the Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa proved abortive at press time.
