Operatives of the Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, have arrested three teenagers (names withheld), in Sabon Gari quarters of Kiyawa Local Government Area for alleged sexual molestation.
The suspects, aged 18, 17 and 12 years respectively were arrested following a complaint lodged by the mother of the victims.
According to the mother, one of her children aged eight years narrated to her what transpired between him and the suspect aged 12 years in the name of play. Skeptically, the mother examined the boy and discovered an abnormality within his private area, and that made her to report the case to NSCDC.
The NSCDC operatives thereafter invited the suspect for interrogation and upon which, he disclosed having canal knowledge of the eight year old boy, his brother of 10 years and two others aged nine and eight respectively who happened to be family friends. The 12 year old suspect further revealed learning the heinous act from two other older friends of 18 and 17 years of the same quarters.
The elderly friends confessed to have canal knowledge of the 12 year old several times in different locations.
Medical reports obtained from the Sexual Assault Referral Center (SARC) in Dutse General Hospital revealed forceful entry and bruises at the anal area. Drugs were administered to the victims and thereafter, discharged.
Further investigation is ongoing, and when concluded, the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution as Sodomy is a crime against the land.
However, the NSCDC boss in the State, Alhaji Garba Muhammad emphasized the need for parents to be extra vigilant as regards movements and associates of their wards to avert similar occurrence.
