The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, is offering prayers for the family of Pastor Gabriel Diya and his two children who died in a swimming pool at the Costa del Sol, in the south of Spain on Christmas Eve.
Also, the church is praying for the parishes that were under his supervision. “At this very difficult time, our prayers are for Pastor Gabriel Diya’s family, the parishes that were under his supervision, friends, associates, members of RCCG and the general public,” the church said.
The Church described the death of its pastor and his two children in a swimming pool in Spain as tragic. It extended its condolences to the family, parish, friends and associates of area the pastor. According to the church, the incident occurred while the Diya family was vacationing in Spain leaving the pastor’s wife and one other child devastated.
RCCG said: “With heavy hearts, we extend our condolences to the family, parish, friends and associates of area pastor Gabriel Diya who sadly passed away, along with two of his children… in a tragic incident while on a family holiday in Spain.”
The incident occurred when one of the pastor’s children, Comfort, a nine-year-old, was struggling in the pool while Diya had tried to rescue her with the help of her elder brother, 16. They all became unconscious in the pool. Efforts to revive them proved abortive as the mother of the children looked on.
