Possession of fake drug: Trial of Indian, Inderpreet Singh, continues June 11

The eight count charge of committing offence of counterfeiting, possession of fake drugs, and selling banned and unregistered drugs preferred against a Lagos-based Indian business man, Inderpreet Singh, and his Nigerian collaborator, Omorodion Sylvester, has been adjourned till 11 June, 2024 for continuation of trial.

In the 8 count charge that was filed before the court by the NAFDAC Prosecutor, B. Simon, it was alleged that Omorodion Sylvester, Male, adult, 41 years old, of No 2, Surulere Street, Volts, Ojo, Lagos on or about 20 February, 2021, within the jurisdiction of the Court did aid Inderpreet Singh, Male, adult, 49 years old, of 306, Apple Estate, Festac, Lagos, to sell fake drug to wit:- Tramadol Hydrochloride Tablets 225mg and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(C) of the Counterfeit and Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, Cap. C34, LFN, 2004 and punishable under Section 3 (1) A of the same Act

In other counts of the charge Inderpreet Singh, Male, adult, 49 years old, of 306, Apple Estate, Festac, Lagos, same time and place was alleged to have found to be in possession of fake drug to wit: – Tramadol Hydrochloride Tablets 225mg and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(a) of the Counterfeit and Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, Cap. C34, LFN, 2004 and punishable under Section 3 (1) A of the same Act.

The two defendants who pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned before the court are currently on bail.
