First civilian Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, who passed on in the early hours of Thursday, February 11, has been laid to rest at Ikoyi Volts and Gardens, Lagos State, this afternoon, February 12.

Jakande, a former journalist and publisher of the defunct Lagos News was Minister of Works under the late Gen. Sani Abacha military regime.

Till today, his administration as governor of Lagos State is still being celebrated for the massive infrastructural development, especially in the area of education and housing sectors recorded during his four-year tenure.

The burial was attended by the crème-de-la-crème of Nigeria’s society, especially members of the Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Afenifere, governors and other top political big wigs.
