Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Zone XI Command, AIG Leye Oyebade has revealed that some of the guards employed at the filling stations were involved in kidnapping activities.
AIG Oyebade spoke at the Zone XI Command Headquarters, Osogbo, Osun State, during a meeting with owners and managers of petrol stations along the expressways within the zone. At the important meeting, he charged them to carry out background check and bio-data of their staff particularly night guards. This is because according to him, intelligence reports have indicted some of them. To further help in fighting kidnapping along the highways, AIG Oyebade solicited the support of the filling stations’ owners and managers whom he advised to give useful credible information to the police.
In another development, the former Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole has commended AIG Oyebade and his men for their efforts geared towards combating kidnapping and other crimes within the zone.
Professor Adewole spoke on Thursday at the Zone XI Command Headquarters, Osogbo, Osun State during its Zonal Security Stakeholders’ Forum meeting.
The meeting which was attended by prominent members of the society deliberated on the need to collaborate with the police in providing adequate security for Ondo, Osun and Oyo States.
Speaking at the meeting, the AIG in charge of the Zone, Adeleye O Oyebade, thanked members of the Forum for their overwhelming support for the police. He, however, reiterated the commitment of the Zone to providing adequate security for the good people of the three component states in the zone.
Prof Isaac Adewole in his contribution while commending the AIG and his men, noted that kidnapping along the expressways has reduced. He however suggested the use of sniffer dogs to further fight kidnapping in the zone. He also promised to be an ambassador to champion the cause of the Forum.
The Chairman of the Forum, Barr Sola Ojutalayo, SAN earlier in his opening remarks commended members of the Forum for finding time to attend the meeting in spite of their busy schedule. While also commending the AIG and officers and men for reducing crime in the zone, he enjoined everyone to initiate ideas and mobilize resources in support of the police to enable them continue to provide quality service delivery.
