Former Borno state Governor, Kashim Shettima. Immediate past Governor of Borno State, Sen. Kashim Shettima, has said that his successor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, will do well as governor. Shettima who represents Borno Central Senatorial District, stated this after plenary at the National Assembly, saying he was not surprised by the outstanding performance of Zulum in his 35 days in office.
“People are surprised, but I am not surprised about the incredible start and 35 days of excellent performance by His Excellency, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum,” Shettima said.
“I have read many positive comments and seen many people amazed by the incredible things the governor is doing within just 35 days.
“People are surprised that within 24 hours, the governor convened a security meeting, met Civilian JTF and hunters and increased their monthly allowances, increased the number of their operational vehicles and was able to meet President Buhari for one-on-one meeting over the security of Borno,” he said.
He further said people were also surprised that within 35 days, the governor visited 20 out of Borno’s 27 local government areas, and that in each of the local government areas he undertook on-the-spot assessment of schools, hospitals, roads, water sources, livelihoods, etc, to identify priorities.
“Those who are surprised do not know the potentials of Prof. Zulum. I took years to monitor him and I was so sure that Insha’Allah, he is going to by far, surpass whatever I was able to achieve in Borno and that’s my greatest wish,” he said.
