Parents in their hundreds in Jigawa State have made a passionate appeal to the State and Federal Government to allow full scale school’s resumption for the future of our younger generation.
Speaking on be-half of the parents, Comrade Shehu Garki lament the situation saying it has derailed our children’s intelligence, as well as caused set back to our final year students who are studying in our various universities and those who are preparing for their WAEC/ NECCO Examinations, among others.
“Honestly, the prolonged school closure has crippled our students’ art of studies and intelligence. The devastating scourge has adverse effects in institutional strata of learning and it will take long to recover whenever the schools reopen,” he said.
Also speaking, Comrade Bello Dutse added that schools’ closure will jeorpadise the future of the children and that of the country. He stressed that no nation could develop when the future education of our younger generations are at stake.
He contended that schools reopening will revive educational activities in our campusesas well boost the morale of our teachers.
But to the Jigawa State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Lawal Yunusa Danzomo, who defended government’s action, said the closure was purely on medical ground to avoid our children contracting Covid-19.
“Even though I am not authorized to hold brief for our governments, the decision on school’s closure was nothing short of self medication in taking preventive measures to guide the health status of our children from the scourge of Covid-19, assuring government has taken measures in resolving the issues amicably based on advisory of our health experts,” he said.
According to him, schools will soon reopen as modalities towards putting in place all necessary measures and apparatus are in top gear.
It could be recalled that Jigawa State government had earlier announced the closure of all its schools in February even before the Federal Government’s pronouncement that all school be closed down nationwide.
