Ahead of the Senate’s resumption on Tuesday, President Muhammadu Buhari has invited senators of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the presidential villa, Abuja for a meeting over the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen.
The senators are reportedly meeting with the president on Monday, January 28, to prepare on how to defend the president’s decision to suspend Onnoghen.
The Punch reports that the invitations to the meeting were signed by the Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, who is also the Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi.
However, an APC source who spoke to the press said: “So, we need to talk to our members in the Senate and impress it on them not to allow Saraki to impose his personal opinion on them.”
APC members of the House of Representatives have reportedly scheduled an emergency meeting for Monday as well.
The meeting was called by the majority leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, via text messages on Sunday evening.
