Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Is-haq Oloyede has charged Nigerian youth to stop the blame game and assume their rightful positions in the leadership of the country. He said they are leaders of today and not tomorrow.
Professor Oloyede spoke when an 11-man delegation of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) led by its Vice-president, North Central, Ambassador Muktar Akoshile paid a visit to JAMB’s Headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.
According to him,“ Past leaders as Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, General Yakubu Gowon and the likes, took the helms of affairs while they were in the prime of their youth and were able to carve a niche for themselves in the sands of time.
“Based on this, I implore the youths to know that the time to act is now and not tomorrow. As such, I enjoin Nigerian youth to stop the blame game and take their destiny in their hands.”
The JAMB Registrar tasked the youth leaders to continue to give unflinching support to President Muhammadu Buhari and his numerous plans for the Nigerian youth in general.
He thanked them for the vote of confidence they passed on JAMB under his leadership and also urged them to do whatever they could to ensure that Nigeria regained her lost glory, especially in the education sector.
Earlier, Ambassador Akoshile had praised Prof Oloyede for bringing positive changes to JAMB which he said were unparallel in the annals of the Board in the 40 years of its existence.
He stressed that “The current management of the Board has achieved so much in the space of four years,” adding that JAMB has carved a niche for itself as the foremost body in the conduct of Computer Based Tests (CBT) in Nigeria.
The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of a ‘Letter of Credence’ to the Registrar on behalf of the Council.
