• SAYS: “ITS ONLY INTENTION TO EXPOSE EX-GOV TO PUBLIC RIDICULE, ODIUM & DISREPUTE”
The speculated arraignment of the former Imo State Governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, before the Federal High Court, Abuja, tomorrow, Monday, February 15, over a petition by an alleged mistress, Ms Chinyere Amuchienwa-Igwegbe, has been described as mere false alarm, intended to further expose him to public ridicule, odium and disrepute.
The said Ms Amuchienwa had petitioned the Police High Command against the former governor in relation to an alleged land fraud to the tune of N500m, certain debt, and an allegation of Ohakim ‘photo-shopping and filming her, and making her nude video public,’ although this is contrary to Ohakim’s earlier petition to the IGP, dated 20th January, 2020, complaining about assault on his person by the said Ms Chinyere Amuchienwa-Igwegbe at a hotel in Abuja, in addition to other unlawful acts by her towards him.
But lamenting what he termed an attempt to ridicule his client, in a press statement, Friday, February 12, Ohakim’s lawyer, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, described Ohakim’s arraignment story as mere false alarm designed to defame and expose him to odium, in the estimation of right thinking members of the public.
Ejimakor began: “Our attention has been drawn to a coordinated, sensational and false publications in sections of the media, purporting that the Inspector-General of Police will arraign our client (Dr Ohakim) before the Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday, the 15th February, 2021.
“We go on record to state that the so-called Charges they are circulating in the media are trumped-up as they were neither served on Dr Ohakim, nor any Hearing Notice served in regard to any arraignment. The calculated leakage of these spurious Charges to the media appears to be deliberately aimed at further injuring Dr Ohakim’s reputation.
“To be sure, vigorous and firm steps are presently being taken in the proper fora to ensure that those involved in this sordid saga are promptly brought to account.
“In the interim, members of the public are advised to completely ignore the said media reports.”/SHARE THIS
