The Consultative Assembly of the Obidient Movement has adopted Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege of APC as its consensus gubernatorial candidate for Saturday’s election inDelta State.

Disclosing this in a statement in Warri during the week, the group explained its decision was based on Omo-Agege being the most generally acceptable candidate for the election.

Signed by Udofia Victory, Pastor Daniel Agbroko, Omotuwou Onovirakpo and four others on behalf of the 63 groups that constitute the Delta chapter, the statement called on all Obidients in the State to come out en-mass and vote for the APC in the governorship election, come Saturday.

The group noted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has performed abysmally in the over two decades of being in the mantle of governance in Delta State, “despite enjoying huge federal allocations.”

According to the group, which is an amalgam of independent social movements, political pressure groups, women and youth-based organisations among others, “Omo-Agege exudes high sense of responsibility, commitment to critical duties, strong attachment to community service, infrastructure and human capital development.

“His competence, experience and dynamism informed our decision on the APC governorship candidate. His impressive background as an acute infrastructural and human capital developer inspired and motivated the Obidients Movement in Delta State.

“The Deputy Senate President captured in his ‘Edge Agenda’ a clear picture of how his administration will bring about the ideals of good governance. This automatically brings us to the same ideological path,” the group further stated./SHARE THIS
