The pledge was given by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Ibrahim Isa Ladan when he received the Forum of Spokespersons of Critical Institutions in Niger State (FOSCIN) led by its Chairman and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace in his Office today.
Hon. Ladan revealed that the protection of lives and property of all citizens at all times is the fundamental constitutional responsibility of any responsible government, adding that the present administration attached great importance to the security of lives and property of the citizenry.
The SSG told members of the Forum that despite the security challenges that is bedeviling some part of the country, Niger State has continued to enjoy relative peace , describing the state as one of the most peaceful State in the country while attributing the feat to good governance embarked upon by Governor Abubakar Sani led administration.
He further observed that unity, peace and security remain vital ingredient for progress and development of any nation, hence the need for people to live peacefully with one another so as to achieve the desired development.
Hon. Ladan then stressed that Government would not relent in putting an end to the unacceptable wanton carnage and security challenges that is bedeviling the region and the State through collaboration with security agencies, traditional rulers and relevant stakeholders.
The SSG explained that the present administration’s continued determination to relate properly with members of the Forum and bring them on the same page with Government as far as the development of the State is concerned.
He enjoined Media Organisations in the State who are the mirror of society not to relent in reflecting realities, reporting the facts as well as setting agenda for positive changes.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of Forum of Spokesperson of Critical Institutions in Niger State (FOSCIN), Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace told the SSG that members of the Forum were in his Office to inform him that the State Government was a recipient of the African Public Relations Certificate of Excellence Award for its outstanding accomplishment in managing security information through the formation and activities FOSCIN.
The Chairman who is also the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State said the award ceremony which took place at the Annual Public Relations Association (APRA) Cconference in Kigali, Rwanda would continue to motivate members of FOSCIN to do more in terms of creating synergy between Spokespersons of various security agencies in the State.
The Chief Press Secretary further revealed that the Forum has carried out series of advocacy visits to all the media organisations in the State and also engaged the leadership of Correspondents Chapel with the view to achieving proper management of security information in the state.
Malam Ndace commended Governor Abubakar Sani Bello for his resilience in supporting security agencies in the State as well as the Secretary to the State Government for his support to success.
He stated that FOSCIN was initiated to compliment Government’s effort through the promotion of healthy relationship between security agencies and the media in the State.
