
Chairman and members of the North East Development Commission, NEDC, Retired General Paul Tarfa, on Thursday paid Gov Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State a courtesy call in Government House Jalingo.
The managing director of the commission, Mohammed Goni Alkali, was a member of the delegation.
Speaking during the visit, General Paul Tarfa, said his team was in Taraba to find ways the commission can assist the state develop some infrastructure.
Gov Ishaku in his address of welcome said Taraba State has been a generous host to thousands of internally displaced persons from the Boko Haram crisis in the zone.
He said this has been a huge burden on the Taraba State government but but noted that “we cannot send them away because it is un-African to do so.”
He commended the Federal Government for the efforts being made to ameliorate the sufferings of victims of the crisis in the zone.
He also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for the efforts he is making to develop the Mambilla Hydro Electricity Power. He stressed the need for the nation to give more emphasis to the development of power infrastructure because power is critical to the development of any society.
He urged the commission to assist with the rehabilitation of federal roads in Taraba State. He drew attention to the need to build the road leading to the hydro power project site, noting that at the moment there is no road to the project site.
