My focus now is to raise new crop of leaders – Prof (Hon) Mojeed Alabi

The Honourable Member representing Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Prof Mojeed Alabi, has declared that his focus in politics now is to raise a crop of young men and women to take up the mantle of leadership at all levels of government in Nigeria.

But such youths must be those with the right vision, attitude and capacity to turn the country around, he pointed out.

Prof Mojeed Alabi stated this when representatives of youths and women organizations from his federal constituency paid him a courtesy call after watching the proceedings of the House.

The coordinator of the visiting group, Alhaji Najeem Iyanda, a graduate and teacher of Mathematics, said available records and statistics showed that Alabi remained the best Representative since inception of the four LGAs, the best performing legislator from the State of Osun in the last four years, and one of the most outstanding legislators of the 8th Assembly.

He said the constituents were paying this commendation visit to usher in a heroic welcome home for a frontline legislator who willingly chose not to seek another term in order to brighten the chances of the APC in the last gubernatorial election in Osun State.

Alabi declared that he has shined enough in politics, after serving as Secretary to a LG, Speaker of a State House of Assembly and Member of the House of Representatives, that his desire now is to see those he has trained and mentored  shine better than him.

While not precluding the possibility of his political leaders giving him higher responsibilities in the future, Hon Alabi said he is not desperate to be anything more than whatever comes his way by the power of God.

He noted that while some of his contemporaries in politics have gone far ahead of him, he was aware of several others he had also surpassed in terms of political exploits, attributing whatever he had achieved in life to Allah, the Master Planner.

Prof Alabi decried the sit-tight and winner-takes-all syndromes in Nigerian politics, advising those that have served their dues to yield the floor to the younger ones who may possess better ideas for moving their localities, state and nation forward.

He also admonished politicians to promote the politics of inclusiveness rather than seeking to crush real or perceived enemies, noting that power is transient and nothing last forever.

The heroic welcome and commendation visit was packaged by Itesiwaju L’agba and included representatives of APC Women Forum, Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), Alabi Youths Movement, Osun Klean Conscience, Alabi Sisters, Ayegbogbo Media Concepts, De Voice of Alabi, De Raufs, and others representing such interests as professionals, artisans, traders and business persons.
