  • In 1982, he became the first Secretary-General of the NPN in Plateau State
  • In 1983, he was elected as chairman of the NPN in the Plateau
  • In 1994, he was appointed to the National Constitutional Conference by General Sani Abacha’s administration
  • In March 1995, he was appointed a minister of state of the Works and Housing ministry
  • In 1999 he was elected as Governor of Nasarawa state for two times.
  • Became Senator of the federal republic of Nigeria from 2007 to date.
