Massive protests have rocked the police estate in Kurudu downtown of Abuja over what residents describe as wanton security breaches warranting constant entry and exit by men of the underworld.

Residents who described the security breaches as coming too often, attributed it to violation of building plan, porous perimeter fences and poor basic amenities.

During the protest on Saturday, October 29, they barricaded the entrance of the estate in such a way that vehicular entry and exit were disallowed, to drive home their point.

They were seen displaying all manner of placards with different inscriptions calling on the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Mallam Muhammad Bello and the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba to intervene before it is too late. Additionally, they were heard chanting all manner of unpleasant songs to express their grievances.

Vice Chairman of the Kurudu Police Estate Owners and Residents Association (KPEORA), Mr. Oregbesan Olalekan, expressed dismay that no fewer than 30 letters have been written to the Office of the IGP through the Office of the FCT Commissioner of Police, but all with no positive results, noting members’ avowed determination to match on until fruitful results are achieved./SHARE THIS
