Barely one week after Police in Kwara arrested a truck ferrying 50 people concealed in fruit cargo, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has yet intercepted two commercial vehicles crossing the state with goods and passengers.
The State Police Command had last week through a twitter by its spokesman, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi announced an inception of the truck carrying the 50 people made up of men, children and women concealed in fruit cargo from Zamfara.
Police at the time said the truck was heading to Ogbomoso in Oyo State and successfully beaten security checks in Niger State before luck ran out of him in Kwara State.
They had since been said to be deported through Niger to Zamfara State.
However, the Kwara FRSC Sector Command also incepted the two commercial vehicles violating the order banning both inter and intra state journeys by commercial vehicles.
They were said to be travelling from both Lagos and Osun State to Kwara with the passengers.
Making this known in Ilorin, FRSC Sector Commander, Jonathan Owoade said the drivers were intercepted by the corps Enforcement Patrol Teams stationed at various points across Kwara State.
He said: “The drivers have violated two of the lockdown regulations in the state which are the ban on interstate travels and the social distancing regulation of carrying not more than two passengers at the back of their vehicles, and also overloaded their vehicles with goods.
“The Sector Command has since handed the offenders to the Department of State Security (DSS) for further actions”.
